Nepal
provides fine options for boating, from glacier-fed
lakes up north, down to where rivers ease in to the
Terai plains. With famous lakes like Phewa, Begnas and
Rupa, Pokhara is one of the most popular Destinations
for recreational boating. While Phewa is bustling with
the tourism-created lakeside area, Begnas and Rupa have
remained largely pristine.
Phewa
Lake:
The
beautiful Phewa Lake situated in the western corner of
Pokhara. The Phewa Lake is the second largest lake in
Nepal, roughly measuring 1.5 by 4 kilometers. Most of
Pokhara's hotels restaurants and
handicrafts
are located along the eastern shore of the lake.
You can see the clean and still water of the lake
reflect Mt. Fishtail. There is a temple named Barahi in
the middle of the Lake. Many pilgrims and tourists visit
there. It is a really incredible and a gift of nature.
The road running alongside Phewa Lake is famous center
for the travelers. Phewa Lake is the one of the best
adventure sports in Pokhara. Sailing, paddle boats, and
Kayaks are available but fishing is not permitted here.
Begnas & Rupa Tal:
The Pokhara valley is Nepal's lakes
district, and out on the east side of the valley, you
will find two lakes, which are smaller then Phewa Lake
but just as scenic. Begnas Tal and Rupa Tal (Tal means
"Lake") are far less developed then Pokhara, and the
villages along their shores provide glimpses into rural
Nepali life. The best way to see Rupa and Begnas Tals is
from the trail atop the ridge that runs between the two
lakes. This trail being in the village where the vehicle
stops. You can also hike around Begnas Lake, and if you
have plenty of energy, also hike up into the hills
surrounding the lakes. Boats can be retted on Begnas
Tal, the larger of the two lakes. It is really excellent
lakes for boating.
