Tibet occupies of the place of ancient importance which
treasures many values and institutions specially that of
Buddhism. Also known as the Roof of the World is the land of
Lamas who is enlightened by the wisdom originated from
Buddhist philosophy. The lamas are blessed with the
enlightenment of Buddhist Philosophy which also inspired the
commoners to achieve that.
After centuries of isolation, Tibet finally
opened its frontiers to the outside world, just a few years
ago. This land has always fascinated mankind and indeed a
visit to this high plateau is an incredible experience.
Although the infrastructure is modest and sometimes
nonexistent, its truly an adventure of a lifetime, a
memorable journey to the past, where people still live a
nomadic lifestyle, the religion occupies the centre stage in
life and where Gods are believed to roam around freely in
human from.
To explore the wonders of Tibet, Tibetan
overland package tours are operated on a fixed weekly
departure basis and are very popular with travelers. The 55
minutes breathtaking Trans – Himalayan flight from Kathmandu
to Lhasa and overland route from Kathmandu to Lhasa offers
truly spectacular views of the ancient monasteries, high
Himalayas including the majestic Mt. Everest, the turquoise
Lake – Yamdrok and a people and culture from a lost horizon.
General information:
1. A jacket and a sweater are advised throughout the
year, especially for tours outside Lhasa as the weather any
unexpectedly change at any time. Other recommended items are
a flashlight, comfortable walking shoes, sun hat, sun
glasses, sun skin lotion and some warm clothes.
2. Transportation will be either by land cruiser or
by mini bus depending on the size of the group. However,
tours to the Everest base camp will always be operated by
land cruiser due to bad road conditions.
3. Tibet is 8 hours ahead of GMT since it is linked
to Beijing time. The time difference with Nepal is therefore
2 hours and 15 minutes.
4. Tibet has only a handful of towns, and Tibetan
cuisine is not exactly the most varied in the world.
Although it is certainly possible to get some good food one
might want to bring food items like, nuts, muesli, chocolate
and other dry food. Since you can get hot boiled water
almost everywhere throughout Tibet it is also handy to bring
instant drinks like, coffee, hot chocolate, soup or
bouillon.
5. Traveling in Tibet involves high altitude and can
be strenuous. Clients with heart and lung problems or blood
diseases should consult their doctor before booking the
trip. Very rare cases of altitude sickness have been
reported but simple headache, fever, loss of appetite or
stomach disorders can happen during the acclimatization. It
is advised to drink Approx. 3 litters of water per day, not
to strain you, move slowly, breathe deeply and take regular
rests.
6. After definite bookings a cancellations fee of 50%
will be charged.
7. After final confirmation of the tour itinerary, if
group want to change the itinerary, the extra cost will be
charged according to the Tibet Agent.
8. The money can be exchanged at the Bank of China
Branches in Zhangmu, Shigatse and Lhasa (Airport / city).
US$ 1 around 8 Yuan. Foreign Exchange certificate are at the
convertible when leaving Tibet. All major credit cards are
accepted at the major hotel in Lhasa. Elsewhere in Tibet you
may face difficulty.
Visa Information:
1. We need the copies of the passports 2 weeks in
advance in order to obtain the necessary visa and permit.
The passports we need one day prior to departure for the
necessary arrangement.
2. To issue / get the visa and travel permit
individual travelers is also eligible.
3. Besides a Tibet visa a special permit to travel to
Tibet is required. We will arrange the permit according to
the itinerary.
4. Those that traveling to Tibet via Nepal are
advised to obtain double entry or multiple entry visa.
